Hot air balloons are federally licensed aircraft, governed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). A pilot's license is required to operate a balloon, just as it is
required to pilot an airplane or helicopter. Our pilots hold commercial pilot's licenses issued by the FAA. Our pilots undergo biennial flight reviews and testing to make sure that they've maintained their skills, and they must also prove that they have flown a required number of flights within the past 90 days.
